Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) utilized Meta’s Llama 2 AI model to analyze civil servants’ responses to a resignation email, contrary to rumors of using his Grok AI model.
The "Fork in the Road" letter encouraged civil servants to resign simply by replying "resign," a strategy Musk had previously employed with Twitter.
DOGE processes data locally through a Llama 2 startup, ensuring no transmission of data to the internet, and is under the HR service umbrella of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM).
Concerns arose regarding data security as civil servants were required to submit weekly reports, with many believing Llama 2 was used for processing.
DOGE is linked to various AI tools for government applications, including AutoRIF for staff reduction and GSAi chatbot, alongside developments integrating Grok into government services by Microsoft and Palantir.
